The Basics To Push-Pull Cables

Push-Pull Cables are dual cable assemblies that offer a full range of push-pull controls which provide a means of transmitting linear motion from one location to another.

What it does is help transfer motion?

This is an improved option to the standard single throttle cable linkage where one spring is responsible for throttling down. While on the other hand, if you choose the push-pull cable, in case the spring fails, the throttle linkage will go back to its idle status when you twist and pull the throttle. Providing better machine accessibility when moving hand gears, brakes, sliders, switch controls, couplings and other machine maintenance works.

Opting to use this type of cable means we choose to provide effective solutions to various control problems. Here at TGA Cables, we offer a wide range of push and pull cables and hardware to fit a range of circumstances. Manufactured at our factory in Melbourne, all of our products are made with the highest grade materials that are built to last.

Below are the benefits of Push-Pull Cables:

  • Smooth and high transmission
  • For universal use
  • Minimal risk of corrosion
  • Extreme flexibility – Easy to Install

The push-pull cables can also be used in a wide range of industries such as construction machines, aviation, automotive, agricultural engines, etc.

Push-Pull Cables are made with stainless steel/plated carbon steel or plastic coated carbon steel conduit and inner members with long-lasting plastic seals that keep them environmentally protected that can withstand temperatures ranging from -65°F to 230°F.

Installation and Maintenance

  • Always check and ensure the routing of the original cable and its dimensions to be identical to the new cable before installing.
  • Lubricate the cables with some light oil prior to installation
  • When routing cables, make sure that there’s enough gap between the cable and any heat source to allow the cables to move.
  • Once installed, check the cable’s operation from steering lock to lock to make sure it works both ways (Push/Pull)
  • For maintenance, cables should be removed and flushed with a blast of air to prolong cable’s life. However, replacing the cables at regular intervals should always still be the best option.
